Wranglers Double Up Condors 4-2
November 7, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
Las Vegas, Nevada â Las Vegas scored twice in the second and twice in the third as they handed the Condors a 4-2 loss in front of 5,243 fans at the Orleans Arena in Vegas on Friday night.
The Condors played a good first period, outshooting Vegas 10-4, but the teams were scoreless after 20 minutes. Rookie winger Jon Mirasty made an impressive debut, squaring off against Vegas tough guy Chris Wheaton and doing more than just hold his own.
In the second, Bakersfield put themselves in penalty trouble, giving the ECHL's 3rd-ranked power play three opportunities. The Wranglers scored twice on the advantage and took a 2-1 lead in the period. Denis Ladouceur notched his team-leading 4th goal of the season for the only Condors score in the frame. Kevin Riehl was given a penalty shot for the Condors when he was hauled down on a shorthanded breakaway with 3:03 left in the period. Magliarditi turned it aside however, to maintain the Wranglers advantage.
Vegas extended the lead with a pair of goals in the third. Doug Wright and Chris Kenady notched tallies for the Wranglers to give them a 4-1 advantage. Riehl notched his first goal of the season at 13:57 to give the Condors life in this one, but they could get no closer, suffering the 4-2 loss. The Condors fell to 2-6-1 on the season and 1-2-1 on their four-game string of road games that ended tonight.
The Condors return to home ice on Saturday, November 8th when the Alaska Aces come into town. That game features a Veteran's Day Jersey Raffle and Auction, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9. Five jerseys will be raffled off during the game and the rest will be auctioned off to benefit MDA. Game time is 7:00pm. On Sunday, they host the Florida Everblades on Pennant Night, starting at 5:00pm. All games can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230, as well as online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com.
