Greensboro Generals News Release

GREENSBORO—The Greensboro Generals once again added experience and speed to an already impressive lineup with the signing of Right Winger Matt Elich, General Manager/Head Coach Rick Adduono announced.

Elich, who appeared his first game for the Generals against the Greenville Grrrowl on Thursday, registered a goal in the second period, giving the Generals a lead that they would not relinquish.

Greensboro marks the third ECHL team that Elich was a member of, appearing for Pensacola and Wheeling in 2002-03. For the Ice Pilots he recorded four goals, eight points, while for Wheeling after appearing in 25 games, Matt scored three goals and compiled nine points. Elich (6-1, 210) also played in 17 games for the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning where he scored one goal, as well as one assist.

"The opportunity to add speed to a front line that already includes some very talented young players, just makes us even better. We are working with someone that has a tremendous upside, being that he played in the NHL, and we want to be able to help him get back to the AHL and eventually the NHL again," Adduono said of his newest acquisition.

Fans, also remember, tomorrow night when the Greensboro Generals face-off against the Gwinnett Gladiators, with a game time of 7:30 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the turnstiles at the Greensboro Coliseum will receive a free Greensboro Generals waterbottle courtesy of Hanes and Hanes Her Way. Hanes and Hanes Her Way are the proud sponsors Generals hockey.
