Indianapolis Indians News Release

PAWTUCKET, RI - The Indianapolis Indians scored five runs in the third inning and rolled to a seventh straight victory by beating the Pawtucket Red Sox on Saturday, 7-1. The triumph extends the club's longest winning streak of the season and moves the Tribe to a season-high five games above the .500 mark.

Indianapolis (32-27) wasted no time and scored in the top of the first inning. Kevin Newman led off the game with a double and scored two outs later on a double from Jose Osuna.

Erich Weiss led off the second frame for the Tribe by belting his third home run of the season. It sailed over the right-center field wall and was Weiss' second home run of the road trip.

The Tribe put the game out of reach with the big third inning. An error allowed the first run to score, but doubles by Weiss and Max Moroff each knocked in a run. The big swing of the inning came off the bat of Wyatt Mathisen, who clubbed a two-run homer to left-center field.

Tyler Eppler (6-2) worked into the sixth inning and earned his team-leading sixth win of the campaign.

Indy has outscored opponents by a 50-7 margin on the current seven-game winning streak. Saturday's win marked the third time in four games that every Indianapolis batter had at least one hit in the contest.

The Indians look to sweep the PawSox on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. The Tribe returns to Victory Field on Monday to face the Toledo Mud Hens.
