Indians Drop Friday Night Contest, 10-1

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians pitching staff surrendered 10 runs on a season-high tying 13 hits to drop their first regular-season game in history vs. the Memphis Redbirds on Friday night, 10-1.

The Redbirds (15-24) put up crooked mumbers in the first, second and seventh innings to record their first win of the six-game series in Indianapolis. Kramer Robertson and Lars Nootbar led the offensive charge with three hits apiece, with all of Robertson's coming for extra bases. Robertson also drove in four runs

The Indians' lone run came in the bottom of the fifth inning on Jason Delay's second home run of the series. The long ball and a third-inning double by Anthony Alford were Indy's only two extra-base hits in as many games.

Max Kranick (L, 2-1) got the start for Indianapolis and surrendered five earned runs in five innings. Matt Eckelman entered in relief of Kranick and surrendered another five runs in 1.1 innings.

Indianapolis (21-18) was held to one run and four hits in five innings by southpaw Matthew Liberatore (W, 2-3). The Redbirds' bullpen then held the Indians to just two baserunners in the final four innings with back-to-back walks in the ninth.

With a 2-for-4 performance, Alford extended his hitting streak to seven games. Shea Spitzbarth also extended his scoreless streak to 11.0 innings with 1.2 innings tossed tonight.

The two teams face off again at Victory Field on Saturday night at 7:05 PM ET. RHP James Marvel (2-1, 3.86) will don a Captain Marvel-themed Indians uniform and face off against LHP Bernando Flores (2-2, 5.81).
