THIS WEEK'S PROMOTIONS
The Indians return home on Wednesday afer a brief two-game road trip in Louisville. In addition to the July 4th fireworks spectacular, Indianapolis will feature four other promotions during the five-game homestand. Thursday will be Ticketmaster Family Night, Friday will be a fireworks night, Saturday will feature the ZOOperstars and Sunday will be an Indians Beach Towel giveaway.
TICKETS FOR TROOPS
Since launching the "Tickets for Troops" program on Memorial Day Tribe fans have donated over 1,000 tickets towards the cause. The Indians have matched that number, pushing the grand total to over 2,000. The donated tickets go to the U.S. Army Reserve 88th Regional Readiness Center in Indianapolis and Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, Ind.
JEWETT WINS NO. 200 IN INDY
Sunday afternoon's 8-7 victory over Richmond marked Manager Trent Jewett's 200th win in Indianapolis. Jewett (200-168) now ranks 13th on the Tribe's all-time win list. The 16th-year Pittsburgh Pirates employee and 10th-year Triple-A skipper is just three victories away from No. 900 in his managerial career.
GIVE GORZELANNY THE BOOST
Pirates pitcher Tom Gorzelanny has been nominated as one of five finalists for the 2007 All-Star Final Vote. The 24-year-old is 8-4 with a 3.05 ERA through 17 big league starts this season. Indianapolis baseball fans have another reason to vote as former Butler pitcher, Pat Neshek, is a candidate for the American League squad. This final All-Star roster spot will be decided by an on-line fan vote that ends on Thursday at 6 p.m.
YOU CAN CALL ME COACH TRUBY
Former Indians infielder and Noblesville resident, Chris Truby, is now a hitting coach for Pittsburgh's Rookie League affiliate in Bradenton, Fla. Truby retired from his playing career -- on June 18 -- after 15 professional seasons. Truby played in 263 big league games with Houston (2000-01), Montreal (2002), Detroit (2002) and Tampa Bay (2003).
