Idaho Beats Utah 4-1 at Maverik Center

West Valley City, Utah - The Idaho Steelheads defeated the Utah Grizzlies 4-1 Friday night at Maverik Center before 5,229 fans on opening night.

Utah took a 1-0 lead 18:01 into the first period on a power-play goal scored by John Armstrong as he crashed the net. Nick Tuzzolino and Ryan Turek picked up assists.

Idaho took a 3-1 lead at the second intermission, starting with a shorthanded goal 54 seconds into the frame.

John Negrin led Utah with seven shots on net. Utah was awarded 11 power-play chances in the game.

Andrew Engelage stopped 26 of 30 shots.

Utah and Idaho meet again Saturday at 7:10 p.m. in Boise from the CenturyLink Arena.

The Grizzlies return home Wednesday and Friday hosting Bakersfield. Wednesday is a Wild $2 Wednesday with $2 hot dogs, fries, draft beers and soft drinks. Face-off both nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
