Kuemper to Guard Reign's Net

ONTARIO, Calif.- Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, announced the addition of rookie goaltender Darcy Kuemper.

Kuemper, 21, joins the Reign from spending the majority of his last three seasons with the WHL's Red Deer Rebels. He made four game appearances in the 2009-10 season with the AHL's Houston Aeros.

Last season Kuemper led all WHL goaltenders in wins, goals-against average (his being 0.933), save percentage, and shutouts. The 6-foot-4 goalie recorded 13 shutouts, tying the WHL record. At the CHL's 2010-11 Awards Banquet, Kuemper took home the PertPLUS Goaltender of the Year Award.

In the 2009 NHL Draft the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the sixth round, number 161 overall.
