IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals will try to improve their record in the young 2011-2012 season to 2-0 when they host the Trenton Titans at First Arena at 7:35 p.m. The Jackals kicked off the year last night with a 7-3 trouncing of the Titans.
BARLOW'S BIG NIGHT
With six points (3g-3a) on Friday, Evan Barlow tied a Jackals record, as he put together the most productive offensive night by any Jackal since Justin Donati and Maxime Gratchev each notched six points on Nov. 14, 2009 in an 11-3 Elmira win in Gwinnett. Barlow leads all ECHL skaters by at least three points to start the year. He recorded a natural hat trick in the third period to put last night's victory away for Elmira.
DEMKOV STARTS OFF WITH A GOAL
Belarus native Artem Demkov scored Elmira's first goal of the season at 4:04 of the opening period, sending a puck into an empty net to give the Jackals a 1-0 lead off of a Titans turnover. Elmira has scored the first goal in all five of its season openers since joining the ECHL. Brock McBride had the Jackals' first strike last season, Gratchev had Elmira's opening tally in 2009-2010, Moises Gutierrez scored the Jackals' opening goal in 2008-2009, and Benoit Doucet put home Elmira's first ever ECHL goal back in 2007-2008.
