WORCESTER, MA – St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President/General Manager and Worcester IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations Larry Pleau today announced that the Blues have reassigned defenseman Brett Scheffelmaier and left wing Igor Valeev to the organization's ECHL affiliate, the Peoria (IL) Rivermen.

Drafted by the Blues with their 5th choice, 190th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Scheffelmaier made his return to the IceCats lineup on Friday in Springfield after missing 23 games with an injury. The 6-5, 222 blueliner skated in 54 games for the IceCats during his rookie season in 2002-03, recording two assists and 143 penalty minutes: 54(0/2/2)143.

The 22 year-old Valeev has yet to appear in a game for the ‘Cats this season due to injuries. Last campaign, he played in 72 games, registering pro-career highs with six goals, 12 assists, 18 points and 153 penalty minutes: 72(6/12/18)153. In two seasons with Worcester, Igor has donned the ‘Cats blue and teal for 101 games, notching nine goals, 18 assists and 225 penalty minutes.

Both players are expected to join the Rivermen for their upcoming three game stint. Thursday the Rivermen are in Dayton and then return home for a two game homestand with the Johnstown Chiefs.

The IceCats are on the road for three straight games, before returning to Worcester's Centrum Centre for a 7:05 face-off with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, December 19th.
