Grand Rapids is unbeaten in its last eight â one game for each Griffin expected to be in the parent Detroit Red Wings' lineup for their contest at Buffalo while G.R. visits Cleveland on Wednesday (7:00 ET). Darryl Bootland, Jiri Hudler, Curtis Joseph, Niklas Kronwall, Joey MacDonald, Kevin Miller, Mark Mowers and Jamie Rivers are all expected to be in uniform for the injury-ravaged Wings, leaving the Griffins without four of their top five scorers and two-thirds of their goaltending triumvirate. The Barons won the teams' first meeting of the season, a 2-0 decision on Oct. 17 behind Dimitri Patzold's 19-save shutout.
Bridgeport puts a 16-game unbeaten streak on the line against Utah on Wednesday (7:05 ET, 5:05 MT) at the Arena at Harbor Yard. The Grizzlies were victims #2 and #3 on the streak as the Sound Tigers posted 6-2 and 2-1 wins back on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, but Utah heads east with a three-game winning streak in tow thanks to the award-winning play of Mike Smith in net last week. The Grizzlies rank third in the AHL in penalty killing (90.6%), but last on the power play with just 11 goals in 124 chances (8.9%); Bridgeport is tops in the league while shorthanded (91.1%).
Manitoba begins a crucial six-game, eight-day road swing in Binghamton on Wednesday (7:05 ET, 6:05 CT). The Moose have won five of their last seven, but still trail all six other teams in the North Division heading into their third meeting of the season with the Senators. Binghamton has dropped five of its last six overall and sits fourth in the East Division, as close to sixth place as to third. Both teams' starting goaltenders, Alex Auld of Manitoba and Ray Emery of the Sens, were recalled by their respective NHL affiliates on Tuesday.
