Canucks Recall Auld

The Vancouver Canucks last night officially announced they recalled goaltender Alex Auld from the Manitoba Moose.

So far in 2003-04, Auld has appeared in 15 games with six wins and eight losses to go along with a tie. He has a goals against average thus far of 2.59 and a save percentage of .911.

Auld, 22, appeared in 37 games for Manitoba in 2002-03 and posted a 15-19-3-0 record with a 2.64 GAA and a save percentage of .908. He also appeared in seven games with the Canucks last season, recording three wins and three losses, with a goals against average of 1.57. He recorded his first ever NHL shutout when he stopped 14 shots to blank Washington 6-0 on March 23, 2003.

The Cold Lake, AB native had played in eight career NHL games, recording four wins and three losses. He was acquired by Vancouver in a trade with Florida on May 31, 2001 in exchange for a second and third round draft pick. He was the Panthers' second choice, 40th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
