Zinger Earns Recall To Washington

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates announced today that the Washington Capitals, their National Hockey League affiliate, have recalled defenseman Dwayne Zinger. He is expected to be in the lineup tomorrow night when the Capitals host the Boston Bruins at 7:00 p.m.

Zinger is the Pirates' leading defenseman scorer this season. In 23 games, he has four goals and three assists for seven points. He also has 19 penalty minutes. The native of Coronation, Alberta has played in 237 American Hockey League games with the Pirates and the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, tallying 17 goals and 34 assists for 51 points and 395 penalty minutes. This is Zinger's second season in Portland, his fourth full professional season overall. He turned pro in 2000 following for years of college hockey for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. This is his first NHL recall.

The Pirates will play their next three games on the road beginning Friday against the Lowell Lock Monsters. The Pirates will return home on Friday, December 19th when they host the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m. They'll be back on the ice of the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday, December 20th to host their old rivals, the Providence Bruins, at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all home games are on sale at the Civic Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
