Pensacola Ice Pilots News Release

BEAUMONT, TX - The Pensacola Ice Pilots came close to notching two wins out of three against the Texas Wildcatters over the weekend, but it wouldn't go their way. The Ice Pilots were the better team for 40 minutes, but the Texas Wildcatters rallied in the third period with four goals and held on to beat the Ice Pilots 4-2.

The Wildcatters solidified their first place lead with their 30th win of the season, while the Ice Pilots saw their record fall to 15-34-1-1 for 32 points.

In the third period Texas made it 2-1 at the 4:58 mark and then tied the game midway through the frame. The Wildcatters took the lead three minutes later and it was 3-2.

The Ice Pilots worked hard and had a 5 on 3 power play in the final three minutes of the game and couldn't score.

In the opening period, the Ice Pilots jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when John Hecimovic scored his fifth of the weekend from Greg Watson and David Wrigley. Watson started the play with a great rush up the ice.

The Ice Pilots added to their lead when David Wrigley scored on a great play from Hecimovic and Rob Rankin.

There was no scoring in the second period but the Ice Pilots did a great job of killing off two five on three advantages for the Wildcatters.
