
RoadRunners Add Defensive Reinforcements

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, an affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have signed defensemen Mat Snesrud and Kyle Orr each to a standard player contract. Both players are expected to be in the line-up this evening when the RoadRunners entertain the Long Beach Ice Dogs.
Snesrud, 30, has logged 177 career games in the ECHL with the Baton Rouge Kingfish and the Reading Royals. The Cloquet, Minn. native and fifth-year veteran posted career-highs in 2004-05 with the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League collecting 10 goals and 56 points in 79 games. A former seventh round draft choice by the Anaheim Ducks at the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Snesrud skated in 40 games last season with Alleghe HC in the Italian First Division and tallied eight goals and 16 points. Snesrud has recorded 46 goals, 125 assists, and 171 points in 339 career games.
Orr, 22, returns to the RoadRunners following a four-game stint with the club from Jan. 30 through Feb. 3. The rookie from Scarborough, Ontario collected two penalty minutes and finished with a plus-one rating in those four games. Orr began the season with the Arizona Sun Dogs of the Central Hockey League and notched two assists and 43 penalty minutes in 34 games.
In two separate transactions, the RoadRunners have placed defenseman Chris Cava on the three-day injured reserve and moved defenseman Dusty Demianiuk to the seven-day injured reserve.
Phoenix returns to US Airways Center at 5:00 p.m. Sunday as they host the Long Beach Ice Dogs in the third game of their current five-game homestand. Doors open at 4:00 p.m.
