Last Weeks Highlights:

4/13/05 > Long Beach 3 vs. Idaho 2 (El Segundo, CA)

Playing at an off-site location because their arena was unavailable, the Ice Dogs made it home by defeating the defending Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads in Game 1 of their opening round series. NHL veteran Bill Lindsay scored two power play goals, while rookie Michael Lambert scored as well to give Long Beach a 3-2 win and a 1-0 series lead. Sebastien Centomo had 22 saves in goal for the Ice Dogs. It was their first playoff win in nearly three years.

4/15/05 > Long Beach 2 vs. Idaho 3

Playing back at the Long Beach Arena, the Idaho Steelheads evened the series at 1-1, with a gritty 3-2 victory over the Ice Dogs. Long Beach's Michael Lambert scored just 1:25 into the game, but Idaho stormed back with three straight goals, including one shorthanded. Matt Noga brought the Ice Dogs to within one early in the third, but they were unable to score the equalizer. Centomo made 22 saves in the loss.

4/16/05 > Long Beach 4 @ Idaho 2

The series headed to Boise on Saturday with the Ice Dogs pushing Idaho to the brink of elimination with a 4-2 victory. Long Beach again jumped out to an early lead, just 44 seconds into the game with a goal by Joe Cardarelli. Trailing 2-1 heading into the second, the Ice Dogs scored three unanswered goals by Evan Cheverie, Dan Watson and Chris Kenady to take a 2-1 series lead. Centomo made 34 saves in the win.

4/17/05 > Long Beach 7 @ Idaho 2

The Ice Dogs finished what they started Sunday night, eliminating the defending champs with a thrilling 7-2 victory to close out the series. Chris Kenady and Michael Lambert each had two goals, and Evan Cheverie, Christian Larrivee, and Matt Noga also contributed. Centomo made 33 saves for Long Beach, which advances to the second round to face either Bakersfield or Alaska.
