Titans sweep Bullies to move on to Round Two

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans exercised some demons by sweeping the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in the North Division Semifinal and advancing to the next round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

In two previous postseason clashes, it was the Bullies who had swept the Titans out of playoff contention. Trenton got their first ever postseason victory against Atlantic City with a 4-2 win on Wednesday at Sovereign Bank Arena and continued to use home-ice to their advantage with a 2-1 overtime win on Friday at SBA. The Titans clinched their first postseason series win since 2002 with a dramatic 4-3 victory in overtime at Boardwalk Hall on Sunday.

The Titans await the conclusion of the Reading/Toledo series to determine their opponent in the North Division Final. Reading currently leads Toledo 2-1 in their best-of-five series. Game 4 is Tuesday, April 19 in Toledo with a potential Game 5 set for Wednesday, April 20 in Reading.

Wednesday, April 13 vs. Atlantic City, W 4-2 Sovereign Bank Arena
- The Titans used 3-0 lead through two periods to skate away with a 4-2 win in Game 1 of their first round series against the Bullies. Leon Hayward, Brent Robinson and Jerramie Domish each scored to help Trenton to its three-goal cushion. AC answered back with two goals in the third period notched:51 apart by Peter Bournazakis and Fraser Clair. Nick Deschenes gave the Titans some breathing room and a 4-2 lead with his marker at 11:25 of the final frame.

Friday, April 15 vs. Atlantic City, W 2-1 (OT) Sovereign Bank Arena
- It was the Bullies who took the lead in Game 2, but the Titans back to send the game into overtime where they were victorious 2-1. Jason Notermann gave his squad a 1-0 edge in the second period with a shorthanded goal, but Nick Deschenes knotted the contest with his second goal in as many games at 16:05 of the period. Just twenty seconds into the overtime, Brent Robinson scored the fastest goal in Titans' postseason history to cinch the win.

Sunday, April 17 @ Atlantic City, W 4-3 (OT) Boardwalk Hall
- The Titans again used overtime to defeat the Bullies 4-3 and sweep Atlantic City out of playoff contention. Up 2-0 in the first period on power play goals by Rick Kowalsky and Scott Bertoli, Trenton saw the Bullies fight back to tie the score on two Jason Notermann goals. After Michael Schutte and Shawn Mather traded power play tallies in the third period, Nick Deschenes netted the game-winner at 11:59 of the first overtime.
