Reading Storms back to win two straight over Toledo

The Royals start to the Kelly Cup Playoffs didn't start as planned. Reading dropped a 1-0 decision to Toledo on home ice on Thursday, April 14, Reading rebounded with back-to-back shutout wins on Saturday and Sunday, however. Rookie goaltender Barry Brust stopped 31 shots in the Royals 1-0 victory on Saturday in the Sovereign Center in Reading before 4,255. Less than 24 hours later, Brust stopped 42 shots in the Sports Arena in Toledo to give Reading a 2-1 series lead in the best-of-five North Division Semifinals.

The Royals and Storm meet for game four of their North Division Semifinals series tomorrow night. Reading has a chance to claim the series with a victory in Toledo. Carl Mallette registered the game winner for Toledo in game one, while Reading tallied game winners from Mike Sandbeck and Rob Hisey in games two and three, respectively.

GAME NOTES: After dropping the four straight games in the regular season, Toledo took a 1-0 edge in the North Division Semifinals with a 1-0 victory over Reading in game one. Scott Fankhouser stopped 32 shots and Carl Mallette tallied the game winner to give the Storm the victory in the best-of-five series.

Saturday, April 15 vs. Toledo - Game 2 (best of Five) Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET
GAME NOTES: Barry Brust and Reading rebounded in game two. Brust posted a 31-save shutout performance to even the series a 1-1, as Reading edged Toledo 1-0. Mike Sandbeck scored the deciding goal 14:33 into the final stanza to give Reading their first goal in 177:22 of hockey dating back to April 8, 2005.

Sunday, April 16 @ Toledo - Game 3 (best of Five) Sports Arena 6:05PM ET
GAME NOTES: Stellar play by Brust and a solid second period lifted the Royals to a 2-0 victory over Toledo in game three of the North Division Semifinals. Brust stopped a season-high 42 shots while Rob Hisey and Cail MacLean scored second period markers to give Reading their first lead in the series at 2-1. Mike Sandbeck assisted on both goals for Reading who has a chance to close out the series in Toledo on Tuesday night.

GAME NOTES: If Toledo wins on Tuesday night in Toledo a decisive game five will be played in the Sovereign Center in Reading on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:05 p.m. The winner of this series will play for the division title against the Trenton Titans.
