Ice Dogs Rally for Overtime Win, 3-2

Bakersfield, Calif. - Marco Rosa's goal just 57 seconds into overtime lifted the Long Beach Ice Dogs to a 3-2 win over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 7,792 fans at Centennial Garden on Friday night.
The Ice Dogs came out of the gate quickly, holding a shot lead through most of the first period. Joe Cardarelli connected on a breakaway tally late in the first to make it 1-0 after 20 minutes.
Bakersfield bounced back with two goals in a three minute span early in the second stanza. Todd Alexander notched his eighth of the season on a redirected shot from Connor James to tie it at 1-1. James, who had over 2,000 bobblehead dolls in his likeness rocking away in the stands from the night's giveaway, helped set up another goal. Ryan Gillis ended up completing a three-way pass play with his third goal of the season at 7:05 to make it 2-1.
James had a chance to add to the lead in the first minute of the third period with a penalty shot, but G Chris Madden was up to the task, kicking it out and holding the score. It ended up being the save of the night as just over a minute later the Dogs tied it up. Dan Watson's shot from the left point made it through a screen to make it 2-2. It stayed that way into overtime, where Rosa connected for his 16th of the season to end the game.
Bakersfield has five straight on the road, starting with three in Anchorage against the Aces next week on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. They return to host the Fresno Falcons on Friday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. After that game, fans will be treated to a live concert from international recording artists Hawk Nelson, presented by KKEY-TV 11 and Island Style. Hawk Nelson will perform inside Centennial Garden, free to everyone in attendance at the game.
