Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons claimed a 4-1 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers in front of a crowd of 5,204 at Save Mart Center. Jason Weaver and Shaun Sutter teamed up to score three goals for the night, two from Sutter and one from Weaver.

At 15:05 of the first period, Fresno's Sam Ftorek weaved around Wranglers defenseman Christian Chartier and netted his 7th goal of the season to put the Falcons up 1-0. The Falcons scored the only goal of the first period, despite being out shot by the Wranglers 12-6.

The second period unfolded exactly like the first, with the Falcons scoring the only goal in the last 5 minutes of play while again being out shot. Fresno's 2-0 lead came on a power play goal by Weaver when he received a quick pass by Sutter and fired the puck past Las Vegas' goaltender Sebastien Centomo. This goal became the first of three consecutive goals scored by the Weaver-Sutter tandem.

At the beginning of the third period, the roles were reversed when Weaver passed the puck to Sutter who then shot it in the left corner of the net. Sutter then scored his second goal of the night on a 5-on-3 power play at 18:23, with the assist once again by Weaver and Curtis Sheptak.

With less than two minutes remaining, Fresno's hope of a shutout was shot down when the Wranglers' Dan Tudin scored on Fresno goaltender Jamie Hodson, bringing the score to a conclusive 4-1.

The Falcons return to the ice tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 29, at a special time of 1 p.m. to battle against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. The first 3,000 fans to attend the game will receive a Falcons Matchbox Car courtesy of Hedrick's Chevrolet.

Tickets are on sale for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497), or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
