Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Ice Dogs never gave up hope in their effort against the first place Idaho Steelheads Friday night. The Ice Dogs (15-26-2) dropped their third straight game, losing 7-4 at Long Beach Arena.

Coming back from a tiring first period, where Ice Dogs goaltender Mike Buzak was peppered for 17 shots (to Long Beach's four), the Steelheads jumped to only a 1-0 lead.

Catapulting to a 4-0 lead and eventually forcing the Ice Dogs to switch netminders for Danielle Dube at 9:13 in the second period, the Ice Dogs narrowed the margin by two after Pat Brush scored his fourth goal of the season on the power-play at 11:37. J.P. O'Connor followed with his 11th goal at 14:16. The two clubs would trade goals before Long Beach's Craig Lyons tallied the club's third goal with 25 seconds remaining in the period, making the score 5-3.

Idaho's Ben Keup scored with a slapshot 2:59 into the final frame before Jeff Marshall capped the Ice Dogs' fourth goal at 15:51. The Steelheads' Adam Copeland insured their win with an empty net goal.
