Florida Moves Into Second Place With 5- 2 Win

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (25-14-10) defeated the Jackson Bandits (25-20-5) 5-2 in front of 6,501 at TECO Arena on Saturday night. Everblades forward Ryan Murphy notched two goals and Florida moved into sole possession of second place in the ECHL's Southeast Division.

The Everblades got on the board first after Ryan Murphy slipped the puck between the legs of Jackson netminder Tyrone Garner on the power play at the 2:14 mark of the first period. Florida then made it 2-0 after forward Keith Anderson stepped over the blue line and fired a wrist shot into the net at the 12:44 mark. The Everblades then took a commanding 3-0 lead after forward Laurent Meunier batted the puck out of the air and into the net on the power play at the 16:04 mark.

In the second period, the Bandits stormed back and made it 3-2 on goals from forwards Eric Fortier and Jeff Bes.

However, in the third period the Everblades made it 4-2 after Ryan Murphy lifted a backhand into the top corner of the net on a semi breakaway. Everblades forward Joe Blaznek then added an insurance goal at the 16:09 mark of the third period to give Florida the 5-2 victory.

Florida goaltender Rob Zepp (19-10-7) stopped 29 of 31 shots he faced while Jackson netminder Tyrone Garner (11-11-3) stopped 26 of 31 shots. The Everblades were 2 for 7 on the power play while the Bandits were 0 for 4.

The Everblades take on the Mississippi Sea Wolves next Tuesday night at TECO Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 PM.
