Ice Dogs Beat Victoria Again, 4-2

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs (22-11-3) won their second consecutive game Sunday night, and their seventh in a row versus the Victoria Salmon Kings (7-23-4). The 4-2 Ice Dogs win gives them 47 points in the West Division, just four points behind first place Bakersfield with a game in hand.

Chris Kenady opened the scoring at 3:37 of the first period on the power play with his 20th of the year, with assists from Evan Cheverie and Nathan Martz. Less than eight minutes later David Walker scored his fourth of the season and fourth in the last four games, assisted by Marco Rosa and Joe Cardarelli.

Ron MacGregor and Mike Josephson scored in the second period for Victoria to tie the Ice Dogs, 2-2. However, Evan Cheverie scored from Dan Watson and Chris Kenady with 22 seconds remaining in the second period to take a 3-2 lead heading into the third. 38 seconds into the third, Marco Rosa scored an insurance goal to make the final score 4-2.

Olivier Michaud made 35 saves in the win, improving his record to 9-7-3 and a 6-0-0 record against Victoria. Jason Stone took the loss for the Salmon Kings, making 21 saves. Long Beach finished 1-4 on the power play, while Victoria, who has the first ranked power play in the league, went 0-6.

The Ice Dogs will travel back to Victoria to play the Salmon Kings Tuesday and Wednesday. It will make eight out of the last twelve games that Long Beach and Victoria have played each other. Call (562) ICE-DOGS or visit www.icedogs.com for more information.
