Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Helping Out: Gladiators forward Kris Goodjohn continues to pick up assists and leads the team with 27 on the season picking up another helper in Tuesday's win. Goodjohn has recorded an assist in 19 of 30 games this season for the Gladiators and is just 10 assists shy of last season's total of 37 assists recorded during his rookie campaign.
From Chicago: The AHL Chicago Wolves assigned forward Colin Stuart to the Gladiators on Thursday. The forward recorded an assist in his first game with the Gladiators in Friday's 4-3 loss. Stuart tallied two assists for the Wolves in 17 games this season. The rookie out of Colorado College was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 5th round, 135th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft is currently under contract to Atlanta.
The Winner! Gladiators forward Adam Smyth tallied the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Louisiana IceGators. For Smyth, it was his third game-winning goal of the season. His 3 game winning goals on the season share first in that category for the Gladiators with captain Cam Brown.
Lighting the Lamp: Jeff Campbell added his team leading 16th goal of the season in Friday's loss against South Carolina. Campbell also shares second in the ECHL among rookies for goals scored with 16 tallies on the year. Campbell posted 13 goals during each of his final three seasons at Western Michigan and had double that many goals, 26, during his rookie collegiate campaign. Campbell is currently on pace to score 33 goals this season.
Within Reach: Mike Vigilante netted his 14th goal of the season in Friday's 4-3 loss against South Carolina and needs just one more goal this season to tie his career high. The Dearborn, Michigan native recorded a career high 15 goals during his rookie season with the Mobile Mysticks in the 2001-02 season.
They Come In Pairs: Besides leading the Gladiators in goals scored this season with 16 on the year, Jeff Campbell has also been adding assists. In the last four games that Campbell has scored a goal, he has also tallied an assist for the Gladiators. With those 4 multiple point games, Campbell now has 11 multiple point games this season.
