Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF Homegrown defender Ian Fray and midfielder Julian Gressel have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for week 21. The pair clinched Team of the Matchday honors following an impressive performance in the team's 2-1 victory against MLS Cup reigning champions Columbus Crew at Chase Stadium.
Fray, who was named as a starter, showcased an impressive defensive performance while also contributing on the scoresheet by heading a corner from Gressel into the back of the net in the 10th minute. The Academy product earned his first-ever selection to the MLS Team of the Matchday, as well as his first-ever Icon of the Match recognition, in his return from a season-ending ACL injury suffered in July 2023.
In addition to his stellar assist to Fray, Gressel created the eventual game-winning goal in the 20th minute, crossing a ball to Leonardo Campana, who slotted into the net after an initial save by the goalkeeper. The assist was Gressel's seventh of the 2024 MLS regular season, the second most in the team, and his second appearance in the MLS Team of the Matchday this year.
