Hurricanes Assign Jay Harrison To Albany

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has assigned defenseman Jay Harrison to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.

Harrison, 27, has played in 10 of Carolina's 13 games in 2009-10, registering one goal, two assists (3 points) and 27 penalty minutes while averaging 12:05 of ice time per game. Carolina signed the Oshawa, Ont., native as a free agent on July 9, 2009. Harrison (6'4", 211 lbs.) was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round, 82nd overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Harrison has scored 98 points (32 goals, 66 assists) in 376 career AHL games with the St. John's Maple Leafs and the Toronto Marlies.
