Albany Devils News Release

The Lowell Devils gathered three out of a possible four points during their two-game road set last weekend and finished the month of October with a 5-4-2-0 record. The Devils rallied on Friday night to steal a point in 3-2 overtime loss against Portland, but turned the tables the next day versus Springfield to notch their own 3-2 overtime victory.

The Devils prepare for a busy week that will see them skate in four games over five days.

Lowell begins its schedule on Wednesday against Hershey before traveling to Albany on Friday.

The Devils return home to host Providence on Saturday and then complete the weekend on the road in Bridgeport.

Rewind:

Friday, Devils 2 @ PIRATES 3 (OT)

Mark Mancari's goal with 23.8 seconds remaining in overtime gave the Pirates the 3-2 decision over the Devils.

The Devils would find themselves down 2-0 midway through the first period when Derek Whitmore and Kyle Wanvig scored 1:36 apart.

Louis Robitaille notched his first of the year later in the frame to cut Portland's lead in half.

Lowell was able to force the extra session when Stephen Gionta knotted the score with 65 seconds left in regulation.

Saturday, Devils 3 vs. FALCONS 2 (OT)

Tim Sestito stung his former team with the overtime game-winner that allowed the Devils to skate away with a 3-2 win against the Falcons.

Once again Lowell was forced to play from behind when Charles Linglet scored at 11:02 of the first, but Matt Taormina responded on the power play just 28 seconds later.

In the second period, Nick Palmieri's first of the year gave the Devils their first lead of the game, but Ryan Potulny would beat Mike McKenna at 7:07 of the third to eventually send the contest past regulation.

Coming Up

The Hershey Bears make their only visit of the season to the Tsongas Arena as they skate into town on Wednesday.

Last year in the two-game season series each team claimed victory on their home ice.

The Devils are 3-3-0-0 all-time against the Bears with a 3-0-0-0 record at the Tsongas Arena. Hershey leads the East Division at 7-4-0-0 and is tied for the AHL's top-ranked offense with 3.45 goals scored per game.

The Devils in turn will be making their sole trip to Albany this season when they face the River Rats on Friday.

Lowell went 3-0-0-1 against Albany in 2009-10 and is 5-4-2-1 in the all-time series.

The River Rats have only one win in their last six contests (1-4-0-1) as they currently sit in third in the East.

Zach Boychuk is on a seven-game home point streak (4g-5a-9pts) dating back to Albany's home opener on October 3.

Lowell and Providence will face off for the second time this season when the Bruins come to the Tsongas Arena on Saturday. Providence was victorious in their first meeting this season, 4-2, on October 16 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

The Bruins put an end to their four-game winless streak with a 4-3 triumph over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Sunday.

Defenseman Andy Wozniewski is tied for fourth in scoring with 15 points (5g-10a-15pts) and ranks number one among blueliners with 10 power play points (3g-7a-10pts).

Sunday's meeting between the Devils and Bridgeport Sound Tigers will be the third in the eight-game season series.

In their last match-up, Mike McKenna made 40 saves to shutout Bridgeport, 4-0, on October 20.

Nine of the Sound Tigers' 13 games this season have been decided by one goal.

They are 6-3-0-0 in those contests.

Bridgeport's defense is tied for 6th in the AHL, allowing only 2.38 goals per game.
