Bowling Green, Ky. - Alec Sole scored the game's only run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a Jacob Kopra wild pitch to give Bowling Green the series-opening win, 1-0, in front of 1,894 fans at Bowling Green Ballpark on Tuesday night.

Bowling Green (21-23, 58-56) is now 12-4 over its last 16 home games, while Burlington (16-28, 51-62) dropped its 10th contest over the last 14 played.

Sole led off the eighth inning with a single into left field and took second and third base on the same wild pitch by Kopra (0-2) with Cristian Toribio at the plate. On the very next pitch, Kopra threw another pitch past Bees' catcher Taylor Ward, allowing Sole to score and give Bowling Green the decisive 1-0 lead, marking the Hot Rods' first run in 19 innings.

Hot Rods' starter Yonny Chirinos took his first no-decision since being called up to Bowling Green despite tossing 6.0 scoreless frames of six-hit baseball, tying a career high for strikeouts in a game with six - four of which came consecutively to close the top of the first and open the top of the second inning - while not walking a batter.

Burlington had two separate scoring opportunities with two runners in scoring position against Chirinos, but the Hot Rods' righty was able to work out of each jam, striking out the final two batters of the first inning and getting Tim Arakawa to line into a double play in the third inning with Sole catching the line drive at first and tossing to Carter Burgess at third base to cut down Trevor Gretzky. From the fourth inning on, Burlington had just two runners reach scoring position.

Bees' starter Justin Anderson allowed just one hit and seven total baserunners over his 6.0 frames, walking three and striking out six in a no-decision.

Damion Carroll (5-2) struck out four batters over his 2.0 perfect innings of relief, and Edwin Fierro kept Burlington off the scoreboard in the ninth despite giving up a two-out hit to Zach Houchins to close the door on the one-run win, earning his second save of the season.

Chirinos, Carroll and Fierro combined to hold Burlington to 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position while stranding eight men on base. Each of Bowling Green's three hits came from the bottom three spots in the order.

Brad Wallace (2-3, 5.96) looks to bounce back after a rocky start in Quad Cities last road trip on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. CDT, squaring off against Bees' right-hander Austin Robichaux (8-6, 3.83).
