
Four Kernels Named to BA's 'Best Tools' List

Cedar Rapids, IA - The August 6th edition of 'Baseball America' list four members of the 2015 Cedar Rapids Kernels in it's 'Best Tools' segment for the Midwest League. Baseball America included lists for all full-season minor league as well as the American and National Leagues.
On this list are Trevor Hildenberger (Best Relief Pitcher), Brian Navarreto (Best Defensive Catcher), Nick Gordon (Best Defensive Shortstop) and Jake Mauer (Best Managerial Prospect). Hildenberger was promoted to High-A Fort Myers on July 22nd.
Former Kernels Adam Brett Walker, Max Kepler, Byron Buxton and Jose Berrios were all named to the Best Tools list playing for Chattanooga in the Southern League. And, former Kernel Mike Trout (2009-10) was named the American League's Most Exciting Player.
The Kernels begin a six game road trip tonight at 6:00 PM against the Lake County Captains, the Midwest League affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, August 18th to host the Kane County Cougars in a three game series. First pitch is set for 6:35 PM with the gates opening at 5:30 PM.
