Fort Wayne TinCaps Scouting Report:

The Hot Rods and TinCaps are among three teams (South Bend) vying for two first half playoff spots up for grabs in the Midwest League's Eastern Division.

Fort Wayne's Manager, former Major Leaguer Jose Valentin, has a son that plays in the Midwest League. Jesmuel Valentin is an infielder with the Great Lakes Loons.

The TinCaps, like the Hot Rods, pack a mighty punch in their starting rotation. All three probable starting pitchers for this series - Walker Weickel, Joe Ross, and Max Fried - are former first round draft picks.

The TinCaps unique name derives from Johnny Appleseed's tin cap. Appleseed is one of Fort Wayne's most famous residents and is buried in the northeastern Indiana city.
