LANSING, MI - The Bowling Green Hot Rods saw two one-run leads slip away in a 7-4 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts tonight. The Hot Rods collected seven hits in the loss.
The Hot Rods got on the board right away in the first inning, as LF Moises Gomez came in on an RBI infield single from C Ronaldo Hernandez, and the visitors led 1-0.
1B Jim Haley extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a single in the first inning as well.
Lansing responded in the third with a two-run home run from 2B Samad Taylor in the bottom of the third, and the hosts led 2-1.
Bowling Green retook the lead in the top of the fifth, taking advantage of a single, a pair of walks, and a couple wild pitches. SS Taylor Walls, as well as Gomez, came in to score and it was 3-2 Hot Rods.
Lansing came roaring back in the bottom of the inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs. The inning was highlighted by two run scoring base hits and three walks, and the Lugnuts led 7-3.
Gomez got the Hot Rods a run closer in the seventh with a solo home run to right, his 12th of the season, and it made the score 7-4.
Unfortunately for Bowling Green, they were unable to complete the comeback as the Lugnuts won the game and split the four-game series.
