Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne TinCaps are going to give away $10,000 in gifts and prizes at Parkview Field during their game on Wednesday, Aug. 15, in celebration of hosting their 4,000,000th fan. The TinCaps are set to take on the South Bend Cubs on Wednesday with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
Anyone present on Wednesday, with a valid TinCaps ticket, will be eligible to be selected as the 4,000,000th fan. One fan will receive $4,000 in TinCaps hospitality, season tickets, merchandise, and prizes, as well as the designation as the TinCaps 4,000,000th fan. Ten other fans will receive $400 gift cards and 20 fans will receive $100 gift cards for a grand total of $10,000 to be given away.
"We felt this was an opportunity to celebrate our 10th season by giving away $10,000," Nutter said. "This is a small token of our appreciation for every single one of those 4,000,000 TinCaps fans that have made the experience at Parkview Field what it is today."
Through nine-plus seasons at Parkview Field, the TinCaps currently stand at 3,997,267 fans in attendance, just 2,733 away from the 4,000,000 milestone. In comparison, it took 16 seasons for the franchise to reach the same attendance milestone when the team played as the Wizards at Memorial Stadium.
"It's hard to believe we are in our 10th season," said TinCaps President Mike Nutter. "The fact that we're welcoming our 4,000,000th fan in that amount of time is astonishing. It's a testament to the level of support from this community. It's very humbling for the entire TinCaps organization."
The TinCaps currently rank second out of 100 Single-A/Short-Season Minor League Baseball teams in attendance on the season as they've drawn 341,244 fans, averaging 5,594 through 61 openings. Fort Wayne's attendance is also higher than 27 of 30 Double-A clubs and 13 of 30 in Triple-A.
Tickets can be purchased at the Parkview Field Ticket Office, by calling 260-482-6400, and online at TinCapsTickets.com.
In addition to the excitement in the stands, on the field, the TinCaps are currently at the top of the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings. If the season ended now, Fort Wayne would qualify for the Midwest League Playoffs for the ninth time in 10 seasons. There are 19 games remaining in the regular season, which concludes on Labor Day (Sept. 3).
