Carolina Mudcats News Release

Montgomery, AL --- Jeremy Horst carried a no-hitter into seventh inning, while Yonder Alonso had three hits and three RBI as Carolina won its third straight over Montgomery and prevailed in its final road game of the season, defeating the Biscuits 6-4 at Riverwalk Stadium.

Horst (W, 1-3) entered his fourth Double-A start 0-3 with a 9.20 ERA, but stymied the Biscuits (29-35) over the first 6 1/3 innings, only issuing three walks. The no-hit bid was finally broken up by Chris Nowak, who hit a line drive up the first base line off the glove of a lunging Alonso, with the ball scooting into the bullpen. Horst finished seven innings, permitting two hits and fanning six and a lone run in the seventh.

Carolina scored four times in the third inning, batting around against Brian Baker (L, 5-6). The Mudcats pushed across four runs all with two outs thanks to five hits and three Biscuits errors. Sean Henry and Alonso singled home runs, while two errors permitted two more to score. Alonso doubled home two runs in the seventh against reliever Eddie Morlan as Carolina (24-41) took a 6-0 lead.

Leading 6-1 in the ninth, Sean Watson permitted three runs, and had to retire Cody Strait on a liner to deep left and Jason Perry on a foul out to preserve the victory.

Carolina celebrates its final off-day on Wednesday and opens its final five games of the regular season back at Five County Stadium against the outgoing league champion Mississippi Braves on Thursday night at 7:15 PM ET.
