
Welch and Lawrie to Participate in IBAF Baseball World Cup

The Milwaukee Brewer and the Huntsville Stars announced today that LHP David Welch and INF Brett Lawrie have been placed on the Temporarily Inactive list. Welch (Australia) and Lawrie (Canada) will participate in the 2009 IBAF Baseball World Cup. RHP Jim Henderson was placed on the Temporarily Inactive list yesterday, he will also represent Canada.
The Brewers and Stars also annouced a few corresponding moves. RHP Juan Sandoval has been promoted to Nashville, RHP Casey Baron has been reinstated from the Disabled List, and RHP Cody Scarpetta and INF Mike Brownstein have been promoted to Huntsville from Wisconsin.
Baron and Brownstein will join the team today and be in uniform tonight as the Stars play in Birmingham. Scarpetta will join the Stars tomorrow, an off day for the team, and be in uniform for the Stars Thursday against the Jacksonville Suns as they begin their final home stand of the 2009 regular season.
