Slew of Moves for M-Braves

Pearl, MS - The Atlanta Braves made several moves Tuesday that directly affect the Mississippi Braves roster. OF Matt Young was promoted to AAA Gwinnett, C Benji Johnson was promoted to AAA Gwinnett, RHP Jeff Lyman was promoted to AAA Gwinnett and OF Cody Johnson was promoted to AA Mississippi from High-A Myrtle Beach.

Young was named the 2008 Mississippi Braves Player of the Year by the organization and returned in 2009. Instead of hanging his head, he set new team records for stolen bases (42), walks (94), runs (81) and on-base percentage (.421). He was in the top five in the Southern League in hits (133) and was tied for the league lead with 10 triples. He led the league in stolen bases and was atop on the M-Braves roster with a .289 batting average.

Lyman was 5-7 with a 3.12 ERA through 33 outings for the M-Braves, eight starts. He struck out 76 through 86.2 innings.

Benji Johnson hit .179 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored through eight games with the M-Braves.

Cody Johnson hit .242 with 18 doubles, one triple, 32 home runs, 84 RBI and 59 runs scored through 122 games with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Johnson's 32 HR lead the organization.

Mississippi's roster now has 22 active players with three players on the disabled list.
