TRAINER OF THE YEAR
NICK FRANGELLA - TENNESSEE SMOKIES
The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs is pleased to announce that Nick Frangella of the Tennessee Smokies has been named its 2009 Athletic Trainer of the Year, as selected by his peers and honored by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS). Frangella graduated from Illinois State University in 2004 with a degree in athletic training and earned his master's degree from California University of Pennsylvania in 2007 with a specialization in exercise science. This is Frangella's second year with the Smokies and sixth season with the Cubs organization.
GROUNDSKEEPER OF THE YEAR
ED ATTALLA - JACKSONVILLE SUNS
The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs is pleased to announce that Ed Attalla of the Jacksonville Suns has been named its 2009 Groundskeeper of the Year, as selected by the league's field managers and umpires. The honor marks the fifth time Attalla has been named the circuit's top groundskeeper. Attalla joined the Suns in 2003 and won the award in each of his first four seasons with the club. He was also named the Double-A Field Turf Manager of the Year in 2003. Previously, he worked with the Delmarva Shorebirds, the Bowie Baysox and the Baltimore Orioles. Attalla also worked in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

DESTIN SMITH - MISSISSIPPI BRAVES
The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs is pleased to announce that Destin Smith of the Mississippi Braves has been named its 2009 Visiting Clubhouse Attendant of the Year, as voted upon by the league's field managers and umpires. Smith has been with the Braves since the 2006 season and wins this award in his first year as clubhouse attendant. Previously, he worked as a batboy and clubhouse assistant. Smith graduated from Holmes College in 2007 with a degree in sports management.
