(Rochester, MN)- The Rochester Honkers were victorious Thursday night in Duluth beating the Huskies 6-5 in a nail biter at Wade Stadium to snap their three-game losing streak and even the series at 1-1.

Matt Kent (Texas A&M) was impressive again in his second start of the season to pick up his first win of 2012 (1-0). The lefty scattered eight hits across seven frames of work, striking out three and allowing just one Duluth run.

Duluth starter Josh Mooney (Dixie State) lasted just two innings and surrendered three Honkers runs on three hits and two walks.

After committing five errors in each of the last two games, the Honkers defense had just one miscue on Thursday night.

The Huskies would not give up as they inched closer and closer, scoring one in the seventh and four in the eighth. The four runs in the eighth inning came off of Honkers reliever Tim Carlson (Doane).

After jumping out to a 6-0 lead, the Honkers could not afford to let this one slip away, and thanks to a dominant inning of work by their closer in the final inning, they were able to hold on for their fourth victory of the season.

Jared Allen (Tennessee) struck out the side in the ninth to stop the Huskies' threat and pick up the save (1) for the Honkers.

The Honkers (4-5) and Huskies (5-4) will compete in the rubber match on June 8th with opening pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Starting for the Honkers will be right-handed pitcher Reid Roper (1-0, Illinois) and he will go up against righty Ryan Arrick (0-0, Illinois).
