St. Cloud Rox News Release

ALEXANDRIA-The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Alexandria Beetles 7-1 at Knute Nelson Park on Thursday night. Phil Imholte (St. Cloud State) was 2-3 on the night with two RBI and Andy

Henkemeyer (Minnesota) added an eighth inning grand slam to power the victory. The Rox improve to 4-5 with the win, while the Beetles fall to 2-7 with six straight losses.

Zach Hirsch (Nebraska) had a very strong start on the hill for the Rox. The southpaw pitched five innings and allowed only one run on four hits with two strikeouts and no walks. He got help from his defense as well as evidenced by the goose egg in the error column.

The Rox scored the first run of the game in the top of the third inning when Boo Vazquez (Pittsburgh) drew a bases loaded walk that scored Erik Kozel (Colorado Mesa).

St. Cloud added two more runs in the top of the fourth on an Imholte double that plated Chris Paul (California) and Will Huff (Erskine) to make the score 3-0. The Beetles scored their lone run in the bottom of the fifth.

Henkeymeyer's grand slam came in the top of the eighth inning on a 1-0 count. The big blast scored Paul (double), Imholte (walk) and Kozel (hit by pitch) and made the score 7-1. Tony Mollica (Jacksonville) pitched the game's final four innings and only allowed one hit while striking out five.

The Rox are back home at Joe Faber Field for the third game of the four game series with I94 rival Alexandria. It's also Fireworks Friday at the ballpark with post-game fireworks planned.
