Lakeshore Chinooks News Release

The Lakeshore Chinooks Home Opener drew a standing room only crowd as the Chinooks battled the Eau Claire Express this past Monday. 1,836 Chinooks fans filled the stands and lined up along the fences to experience the beautiful Kapco Park.

Tuesday marked the first victory for the Chinooks at Kapco Park. Starting pitcher Joe Greenfield (South Suburban) inked the win for the Chinooks by pitching 5 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run with 4 hits, 3BB and 3K's. Greenfield out-dueled Eau Claire's Andre Hendrick who also went 5 2/3 innings.

The night also featured the first Home Run at Kapco Park when Sam Koenig (UW-Milwaukee) hit a solo jack in the 5th inning. The home run was also the game winning run for the Chinooks.

This year's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft also took notice of the talented line-up on the Chinooks team. Eric Semmelhack (UW-Milwaukee) was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 12th Round. Semmelhack marks the first Chinooks player to be drafted this season and the first of many expected to come out of the Lakeshore Chinooks organization.
