
Honkers Fall to MoonDogs in Game One of Double Header

(Rochester, Minn) - The Honkers fell to the Mankato MoonDogs at Mayo Field in the first game of a double header, 17-0. The MoonDogs were considered the home team for the first game, and did their damage in the first three innings.
The MoonDogs scored three runs in the first, four runs in the second and six runs in the third to earn their sixth win of the season. They got a homerun from Jake Shepski (Notre Dame) to start the scoring.
Jackson Rose (0-2) (Barton County CC) got the start for the Honkers; he went 2.2 innings, allowed 11 hits, nine earned runs, walked two and struck out two. Bayley Chesterton (Riverside City College), Carter Lilly (Corpus Christi), Hunter Van Horn (Clemson) and Jesse Ellefson (Montevallo) all pitched in relief for the Honkers.
Ricky Digrugilliers (2-0) (Western Illinois) got the start and the win for the MoonDogs; he went six innings, allowed one hit, walked two and struck out four.
Bryce Marquardt (Bethel University) and Jackson Thoreson (St. Mary's) each collected a hit for the Honkers, while Chase Hamilton (Austin Peay) paced the MoonDogs' offense. He went 4 for 4 with three runs scored and four RBI., including a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
The MoonDogs and Honkers will play another seven-inning game tonight, starting at approximately 9:10 p.m. Houston Glad (NE Oklahoma JC) will get the start for the Honkers, while Adam Rutz (SW Christian U) will get the start for the MoonDogs.
With the loss the Honkers fell to 3-6, while the MoonDogs move to 6-3.
The Honkers will hit the road and travel to St. Cloud to battle the Rox on Friday and Saturday. Rochester will travel to La Crosse to take on the Loggers Sunday night, and then face the same Loggers team at Mayo Field Monday night, which is MN Bankers Association Night!
