Kalamazoo Growlers to Hold Fundraiser for Victims of Cycling Tragedy

June 9, 2016 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Kalamazoo Growlers News Release

KALAMAZOO, MI - On Friday June 24, the Kalamazoo Growlers will host "Kalamazoo Strong Night" to raise money for the Kalamazoo Strong Organization and benefit the victims of this year's tragedies. The night was originally planned to raise money for the victims of the mass shooting in February, but in light of Tuesdays events, funds raised will also go towards a crisis fund for the nine bicyclists affected by the unfortunate accident on June 7.

The Kalamazoo Growlers play the Green Bay Bullfrogs at 7:05 p.m. on June 24. Fans who wish to donate can purchase tickets online from growlersbaseball.com using promo code "KSO" for a reserved bleacher ticket and Growlers cap or "KSO Food" for ticket including a hat and meal voucher. $7 from each package will go to the Kalamazoo Strong Organization. Toss a Trucks, a postgame activity where fans can win prizes, will be sold during the game by KSO volunteers with all proceeds returning to the organization. These funds go towards KSO's programs including the Tyler Smith scholarship, 2/20 victims fund, and cycling victims fund. This evening is also Faith Night and will feature an appearance by former Detroit Tiger Frank Tanana as well as postgame fireworks and a Wham City Lights show.

A silent auction will be held during the game and all proceeds of the auction will go directly to the nine cycling accident victims. The Kalamazoo Growlers will hold their own separate fundraiser for the victims of the cycling accident, for which the baseball club will match all donations. Any individuals or businesses wishing to donate items for the silent auction may contact Growlers Community Relations Coordinator Annie Cultice at annie@growlersbaseball.com.
