Kingfish Drop Pitcher's Duel to Rivets
June 9, 2016 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - The Kingfish lost their fifth straight game tonight as they fell to the Rivets by a final score of 2-0.
For the second consecutive night, Kingfish pitching was near infallible. Andrew Reisinger started for the Kingfish and worked 6 innings. He did not yield a single run, allowed 3 hits, and struck out 8.
Rigo Beltran followed Reisinger's efforts with three solid innings of relief. Beltran gave up 2 hits and 2 runs, only one of which was earned. That 1 earned run came on a solo shot to Alex Maloney. Beltran, in spite of his sharp outing, took the loss and falls to 1-2 this season.
Pete Schuler paced the Kingfish offense. He went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, both of which ricocheted off the right-center field wall. Kian O'Brien went 1 for 4 with a strikeout, and Nick Kanavas tossed in his own 1 for 4 evening. The Kingfish as a club only picked up four hits, and were unable to draw a walk against a very impressive pitching performance by the Rivets.
With the loss, the Kingfish are now 4-6 this year. They will now hit the road for four games. The first two will be against the Rivets beginning tomorrow night at 6:35 CT. After that, they will play the Waterloo Bucks on Sunday and Monday, before returning home on Tuesday against the Green Bay Bullfrogs.
