
Waterloo Tops Duluth, 2-1, in 5-Inning Contest

WATERLOO, IOWA. - Adam McGinnis's towering two-out, two-run home run to left-center and a complete game victory from Jordan Accetta pushed the Bucks past the Honkers, 2-1, in a five-inning affair. Play was initially delayed in the middle of the fourth due to a lightning delay before officially being called an hour later due to the rain.
Daniel Perry drew a walk to begin the bottom of the first before scoring on McGinnis's towering two-out, two-run home run to left-center. The home run was the second of the year for McGinnis and his second in the last three games. McGinnis's home run also extended his personal-best hitting streak to four games. Waterloo (7-2) also improved to 6-0 when scoring first.
Duluth (4-5) got their lone run in the top of the fourth before play was delayed due to lightning. Dillon Paulson started the inning with a walk before advancing to third on a two-base fielding error by Tyler Curtis. Austin Bernard cut the Bucks' lead to 2-1 with an RBI groundout to second, bringing in Paulson from third.
Accetta (2-0) won his second straight start after allowing just an unearned run on two hits, striking out three, walking three and hitting a batter. Accetta also extended his consecutive scoreless inning streak to 9 1/3 innings before giving up his first run (unearned) of the season with one out in the fifth.
Jake Hand extended his season-high on-base streak to nine with a single in the fourth while Blake Alexander extended his on-base streak to eight with a five-pitch walk in the second.
Logan Browning (0-1) was charged with the loss. The southpaw issued two runs on three hits, striking out three and walking three.
The Bucks conclude their three-game homestand on Thursday evening in the series finale against the Duluth Huskies. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. RHP Steven Baker (0-0, 2.00) gets the ball for Waterloo while Duluth counters with RHP Dan Loats (1-0, 0.00)
