Bullfrogs Look to End Three Game Skid
June 9, 2016 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - The Bullfrogs dropped their third game in a row as they fell to the Kalamazoo Growlers 6-0. Austin Hancock (Lenoir Rhyne University) got the loss after throwing six strong innings, allowing one run to score and striking out seven. The Bullfrogs record now stands at 3-6 on the year.
The eighth inning was the undoing for the Bullfrogs for the second night in a row. Connor Jackson (UC-Berkeley) went back out in the eight after pitching a perfect seventh, he hit the first batter Leckie. Bullfrog's closer, Harrisen Egly (Columbia), came into the game in hopes to keep the Growlers out of the run column. After three hits, two walks, and four runs later, the Growlers were up five runs. The deficit would be too large for the Bullfrogs to come back from.
Offensively, the Bullfrogs had three hits throughout the game. Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir Rhyne University), Hunter Owen (Indiana State), and Randell Kanemaru (Columbia) had the Bullfrogs three hits on the night.
Tonight, the Bullfrogs will send the young southpaw to the mound in Dakota Klein. In his first start of the season, Klein went four innings and allowed one run to score. The freshman from Texas A&M will have the opportunity suppress the strong offensive attack by the Growlers led by Dan Robinson (Central Michigan) and Connor Kopach (Sountern Illinois) in hopes to help the Bullfrogs get back into the win column as they continue this four game home stand.
On the mound for the Growlers, Tanner Andrews (Purdue( will look to bounce back after a rough start against the Battle Creek Bombers. He went four plus innings, allowing five runs to score and walking three.
First pitch is slated for 6:35pm, gates open at 5:35.
