Battle Creek Bombers Fall to the Wisconsin Woodchucks, 4-3

Battle Creek, Mich. - The Battle Creek Bombers ended their homestand by falling to the Wisconsin Woodchucks, 4-3, Thursday night at C.O. Brown Stadium.

The Bombers took the lead early in the game. Nick Walker led off the second inning with a double and after Chad McKinney popped out to Woodchuck's first baseman Steve Passatempo, Christian Helsel hit a two-run homerun to left field, giving the Bombers the 2-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, Josh Goulet and Cole Daily scored for the Woodchucks on a two-out double by Mac Caples, tying the game up at 2.

The Woodchucks took the lead in the fourth inning after Josh Goulet singled home Chad Fleischman with one out. Cole Daily followed Goulet by singling home Javier Martinez, as the Woodchucks took the 4-2 lead.

The Bombers cut Wisconsin's lead to one in the sixth inning as Nick Walker reached base after an error by Chad Fleischman with two outs. Walker came around to score on a single by Cooper Marshall, giving the Bombers their third and final run of the game.

Although the Bombers lost, Austin Bueter was lights out for Battle Creek out of the bullpen. Bueter pitched 4.2 innings for the Bombers after relieving Tommy Parsons with one out in the fourth inning. He allowed one hit and one walk. However, he recorded 12 strikeouts in his third appearance on the year.

In total, the Bombers' pitchers struck out 17 Woodchucks.

The Bombers finish the homestand with a 4-1 record. The Bombers head out on an eight-game road trip on Friday morning, kicking things off at the Green Bay Bullfrogs Friday night at 8:05 EST.
