
Home Runs Power Kannapolis To 8-3 Win In Game Three

Salisbury, Md. - The Kannapolis Intimidators (5-1) scored seven unanswered runs from the sixth inning through the eighth inning to top Delmarva 8-3 on Wednesday night at Perdue Stadium. The Intimidators belted three home runs on the night.
The Shorebirds plated the first run of the night in the bottom of the third. Michael Ohlman pulled a double down the third baseline and towards the left field corner. Brenden Webb then grounded out to second to advance Ohlman to third. With one out, Trent Mummey hit a grounder to first and Ohlman beat the throw home by Dan Black.
Kannapolis tied the game on the first pitch of the fourth inning. Dan Black crushed a solo home run over the right field wall to tie the game at 1-1.
The Shorebirds took the lead in the fourth inning. Manny Machado started the frame with a flare single into center field. He reached second on a passed ball and advanced to third on a ground out by Jonathan Schoop. With two outs, Kannapolis second baseman misplayed a grounder by Kipp Schutz, allowing Machado to score.
Kannapolis broke through in the sixth inning. Juan Silverio led off with a home run on the first pitch of the inning. Two batters later, Kenny Gilbert doubled down the right field line. After a single to left by Kevin Dubler, Kyle Eveland hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Gilbert, which gave Kannapolis their first lead of the game. The next batter, Trayce Thompson, blasted his second homer of the series to give Kannapolis a 5-2 advantage.
Kannapolis tacked on another in the seventh and two more in the eighth inning. The Intimidators plated seven unanswered runs from the sixth through eighth innings.
The Shorebirds added a late run in the ninth inning on a Schutz single up the middle that scored Jonathan Schoop.
Kannapolis starter Ryan Buch earned the win in six innings. He surrendered five hits and one earned run. Brandon Holloway was saddled with the loss. He threw one inning in relief and allowed four hits and four runs. Including Holloway, five Shorebirds pitchers were used on Wednesday night.
Shorebirds starter Luis Noel hurled five strong innings. He allowed four hits and only one run.
The Shorebirds and Intimidators play the series finale on Thursday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. RHP Tim Adleman will make his second start of the season.
