Hoffman Returns to Mallards; Beach Arrives from Chicago

MOLINE, Ill. - Goaltender Brody Hoffman has been assigned to the Quad City Mallards by the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild while Forward Cody Beach has been reassigned to the Mallards from the AHL's Chicago Wolves by the National Hockey League's St. Louis Blues, the Mallards announced today. In addition, the Mallards have activated forward Zach Pochiro from 21-day injured reserve and placed forward Tanner Eberle on 21-day injured reserve.

Hoffman, a 25-year old rookie, returns to the Mallards after being recalled by Iowa yesterday. Hoffman has gone 11-12-1 with a 2.84 goals against average and a .908 save percentage in 26 games with the Mallards this season. The 6' 4", 195-pound Wilkie, Saskatchewan, native has started five straight games and appeared in ten of the Mallards' last 12 games.

Beach, 23, has scored two goals and added two assists while picking up 76 penalty minutes in 22 games with the Wolves this season. The 6' 5", 214 pound Kelowna, British Columbia, native last season piled up 210 penalty minutes in just 41 games to finish seventh in the AHL in PIM's. Beach scored twice and notched seven assists for Chicago last year and also played six ECHL games for the Alaska Aces.

Beach has scored 11 goals and recorded 20 assists for 31 career points and spent 466 minutes in the penalty box in 120 AHL games over four seasons with the Wolves and Peoria Rivermen. He has produced four goals, eight assists and a dozen points in 37 career ECHL games with the Aces, Kalamazoo Wings and Evansville Icemen.

Beach, who was selected by St. Louis in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft with one hundred thirty-fourth overall choice, spent just over three seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen and Moose Jaw Warriors before turning professional. In his first full WHL season, he won the 2010 Ed Chynoweth Cup championship with Calgary. Beach led the WHL in penalty minutes (229) in 2011-12 while also scoring 15 goals and registering 41 assists for 56 points to help Moose Jaw to the league's East Division title. He finished his junior career with 29 goals, 90 assists and 119 points along with 624 penalty minutes in 169 WHL games.

Pochiro returns from I.R. after missing the Mallards' last 20 games due to an upper body injury. He has scored six goals and pocketed nine assists for 15 points in 24 games this season. Eberle has been sidelined for the last four games with an upper body injury. He has collected six goals, five assists and a total of 11 points in 25 games this year.

The Mallards meet the Cincinnati Cyclones tonight at 7:05 p.m. on home ice. Tonight night also brings the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night.
