Cranbrook, BC - In their first game in eight days following the Western Hockey League holiday break, the Calgary Hitmen opened a home-and-home series with Kootenay beating the ICE 4-0 on Sunday evening at Western Financial Place.
Nik Amundrud made 27 saves for Calgary to record his first shutout of the season and fourth of his career.
Jordy Stallard led the offense with a goal and an assist while Jakob Stukel, Carsen Twarynski and Taylor Sanheim rounded out the scoring.
The Hitmen, who outshot the ICE 33-27, built period leads of 2-0 and 4-0.
Calgary, a perfect 4-0 against the ICE this season, now returns to Alberta to host Kootenay tomorrow, Dec. 28, in the rematch. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
During the holiday season, the Hitmen are offering a special ticket package where fans can purchase tickets to two holiday games for only $25.
