Edmonton Elks News Release

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club announced today that wide receiver Ed Hervey has re-signed with the team. Terms of the deal were not released.

"Edmonton has been home to me for six years and I am extremely happy about staying here," said Hervey. "We have a nucleus of outstanding veterans and I believe 2005 is going to be a great year for this club and its fans."

Despite having to play through injuries and appearing in his fewest number of regular season games as an Eskimo, Hervey still managed 629 receiving yards on 53 receptions and 6 touchdowns in 2004. He finished the season with back-to-back eight reception games versus Saskatchewan and Winnipeg for 120 and 103 yards respectively. In the CFL West Semi Final, Hervey led the Esks with 14 receptions for 173 yards.

"There are few players of Ed's caliber in the CFL and I am excited that he is going to be back with us," said Eskimo Head Coach, Danny Maciocia. "His ability to extend defenses makes us difficult to play against and his leadership in the dressing room is unquestionable."

Hervey, a two-time CFL West All-Star (2002, 2003) came to the Eskimos as a free agent in 1999 and currently ranks eighth on the Eskimos' all-time receiving list with 5278 yards on 351 catches with 40 touchdowns.
