Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA â The Ottawa Renegades Football Club has the following announcement after developments Thursday, February 17 with regards to the status of free agent receiver Ed Hervey.
"Regrettably, we have to announce after a verbal agreement was done for Ed to come to Ottawa â and a contract was on its way, Ed has decided to stay in Edmonton," said Joe Paopao, Head Coach and General Manager of the Renegades. "This was out of our control."
The Renegades Thursday morning announcement, that the organization had come to terms with Hervey, came as a result of a release sent by Hervey's representative Paul Sheehy late Wednesday night after the verbal agreement had been reached.
The Renegades subsequently sent Hervey the contract agreed upon, before receiving word Thursday from the receiver that he would remain in Edmonton.
"We are extremely disappointed," continued Paopao. "We had repeated assurances that Ed would be coming to Ottawa to play for the Renegades, and that was our understanding throughout this process, even as late as Thursday afternoon."
