(Calgary) â Today Calgary Stampeders' Head Coach and VP of Football Operations Tom Higgins announced the free agent signing of Defensive Back Anthony Malbrough.
As per Club policy terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"Out of all the defensive free agents out there, Anthony graded at the top of our list," stated Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Denny Creehan. "He brings a unique combination of both speed and physical play, which will bring added excitement to our defense."

Signed as a free agent on February 17, 2005...in 2004 Anthony started the year with the Calgary Stampeders...however was traded to the Ottawa Renegades before the start of the season on January 13th, 2004...played the entire season with the Renegades...in 2002 Anthony attended training camp of the Houston Texans...signed by Calgary on September 5th and added to the line-up on September 14 against the Renegades...scored a touchdown on a 37 yard fumble return during final regular season game vs Toronto...in 2001 he was allocated to the Barcelona Dragons (NFL Europe) by the Cleveland Browns...intercepted three passes, including two touchdown returns in week 2 against Rhein Fire...in 2000 Malbrough attended training camp of the Cleveland Browns and earned a spot on the roster...saw action on special teams and on defence...finished season with 12 defensive tackles.
2004
Game 1 at WPG: Defensive hero of game. Returned an interception (K. Jones) 55 yards for a touchdown in third quarter to give Ottawa a 14-point advantage (second TD of CFL career)... Game 4 at MTL: Made three tackles, recorded a special teams' tackle and had a pass knockdown... Game 5 vs WPG: Registered three tackles against the Blue Bombers... Game 6 at TOR: Made season-high five tackles against the Argonauts... Game 7 vs CGY: Continued his solid effort with a six-tackle performance that deemed him the top defensive player of the game. Also was able to close in on Calgary's receivers late in the game, forcing Calgary quarterback Tommy Jones to roll right leading to a forced fumble and the game's winning touchdown... Game 9 vs HAM: Registered a pair of tackles... Game 10 at EDM: Recorded two tackles. Game 13 at CGY: Recorded one defensive tackle and knocked down a pass. Game 14 at SSK: Had four defensive tackles.
2003
Played 11 games for Calgary ... Made 24 tackles, three special teams' tackles, three pass knockdowns and 27 hits ... Recorded six tackles on Oct. 13 at Saskatchewan.
NOTEWORTHY
Attended West Brook High School near Houston ... Selected as a top-100 football athlete by The Houston Post ... Rushed for 1,347 yards during senior year and scored 17 touchdowns.
